Far Away

Another poem coming your way, about a huge transition that happened in our lives few years ago , shifted from India to Canada, away from family, friends, uprooted the entire system and came here to start life from scratch. Grass is always greener on the other side, I understood this so well after shifting here πŸ˜€ it’s not easy at all each day is a hustle and it’s just not us, it’s every couple who is coming from India or any part of the world leaving all what they built with love back home to start something new, with dreams in their eyes hoping some day those dreams will become reality.

Please enjoy some emotional aspects about the country built over the years πŸ™‚

A land far away , in the land that is majorly frozen,

A place where I never thought my dreams will be woven,

A place that was a strange land ,

But it came ahead with open arms and a helping hand!

A home away from home , created with love,

Away from family, but moulded with blessings from above!

A land with no sun in winters,

A place where even in spring there can be blizzards,

A country that is now somehow ours,

But why does it still not feel a part of our hearts?

With no one to be by my side if I am unwell,

With no maid to wash the dishes , that are not done yet.

A visit to a temple here,

Is a beautiful feeling to be clear.

Summers where are you come here !

Waiting to see the skies becoming clear.

Summing it up, still miss our home country, especially during festivals, as the fervour of those festivals in India is unmatched, still this is our place for now and I feel proud to see so many successful people from our place making it big in a North American country! Kudos .

Your Immigrant!

Do you really love this place?

As we celebrate the first festival of this year 2020 Lohri (for those who are unaware it is the harvest festival most popular in North India and it is followed by Makar Sakranti-when the Tropic of Cancer shifts to Tropic of Capricorn ) leading to longer days and marking an end to winter months especially in the Southern Subcontinental.MAKAR-Capricorn in Hindi). It forced me to think and be nostalgic about how this festival was celebrated back home!

I thought probably it was only me,who was feeling this way,but when I saw few stories on YouTube of those YouTubers who are not in their home country, saying that they miss the celebration back home,I was relieved as there are others too who feel the same.

Coming to the topic, loving a place is based on lot of factors and the main factor is a place that is surrounded by your loved ones and family members. So,definitely there is no second thought in this that no matter what’s the condition of air, road, politics back home..home is homeπŸ’– and it has all my heart:*

But, coming so far away from your comfort zone, away from family and loved ones,is not always an easy choice..this is life and that’s how it is..it’s impossible to sit at home and be nourished and protected by your family throughout your life,if you want to move ahead and really get a good opportunity then though at the end it’s your choice but at some point we have to make a choice either opportunity or comfort at home!

So,wrapping up this blog the only thing I can say is,this is a good place,I like it!But it’ll take time for this place to be equal to the position my home country has in my heart πŸ’“ Which is I believe quite understandable.

The winter sun

Though since last few years Capital doesn’t enjoy the warmth of winter sun, like it used to earlier, but still there is something in the winter sun!

This year initially there was smog but as it rained and git windy due to god’s grace towards the city, weekend has been blessed with a warm wintery sun..apart from the most important part that it gives warmth to us on cold days and our clothes dry faster when the sun is bright ,I associate this to many memories since childhood.

Winter is one of my best season,it has been since I was a child ,the most awaited winter break, happiness of a new year ,with new session,books,teachers..in all this happiness and excitement ‘sun’ played an important role,it was a symbol of happiness and warmth, whenever it used to be cloudy ,I used to feel gloomy.

Through all the years, winters are the most sought after just because of the sun !! This sun is hated during summers and we pray for some respite from it,but during this season we can’t think of surviving without it’s warmth!

This is nature and I truly believe that the way we have been blessed with this natural heater for winters,it should be retained like this throughout..without any smog covering it and making us gloomy..

Thank you

Today most people around the world are celebrating Thanksgiving day..and I am wondering have we all come down to such a level in humanity that we need a specific day in a year to say thank you ?! I agree the sentiments attached to this day,but we really don’t need only a single day to say thank you to others ,we should do this on daily basis..

But as today is thanksgiving ,I want to say thank you god for giving me this life..and the people around me!thank you everyone that I meet everyday ,you all are equally responsible for making my day!sometimes somethings might not be of my liking but still having you all around is what makes my life going!

Thank you everyone!thank you world!!!

P.S let’s be little less selfish and allow our nature and mother earth say thank you to us ,by helping her survive in a better way!

This blog is my perception ,doesn’t intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments!

Diwali is around!

Since childhood this festival has remained my favourite..with lights all around, pleasant aroma of winter flowers ,some crackers..but now I think of the events that happen to the city after diwali..

Animals become ill,the weather is intolerable, there is smog all around.

It’s a kind request to the people of my city and country ..please go green this diwali.Diwali is a festival of lights and happiness not of noise pollution and spreading toxicity.

Be generous towards your city ,so that you are able to celebrate this festival of lights happily for the years to come.

Seasonal remedies

Going through the past month hasn’t been that good ,with someone or the other falling ill due to bad weather,changing weather..viral is in the air.So,I gathered few tips from my mother,late grandmother to avoid any weather change hassles;

1.Honey and Lemon Tea: for sore throat gargle with lemon juice and to make it more bearable you can add honey and drink it too.

2.Ginger tea :for stuffed nose, boil a cup of water and grate ginger in it,let it boil for some time, you can add holy basil leaves too in it for faster recovery.

3.Steam inhalation for stuffed nose:steam is age old and mixing few drops of eucalyptus oil in it helps in treating the stuffed nose faster.

4.Cinnamon,cardamom ,almonds and saffron tea:For chest congestion, they work as natural decongestant ,boil them for 15 min, when it gets dense add honey to it and have it 2-3 times a day.

5.Remedy for Flu: include lot of fruits in your diet and probiotic supplements.Drink lots of water at-least 10-12 glasses.

6.Frost Bites: common in colder areas, soak your feet in warm salty water and then pat dry and later apply rub olive oil.
