Spring Again!

It’s spring time again,

When the flowers will be blooming once again!

There will be no snow,

Just the spitter spatter of the crow!

The seagulls will fly high,

Like little white angels in the sky,

The leaves will be covered with bright greens,

Like a cricket field that is just recently cleaned!!

The King of Queens!

What movies or TV series have you watched more than 5 times?

Watching the same web show more than 5 times is actually a big deal, according to me, this means am so impressed with the concept that I would watch the old , watched shows again and again, instead of watching a new show. So this happened with me after I watched The King of Queens ( a comic web show) dealing with normal couple’s daily situations .

It is sometimes so relatable and funny at the same time, I enjoyed the way each episode had it’s own essence, every season had it’s own significance, if somedays even now I feel there’s nothing interesting on the net, I randomly watch any season’s episode and it instantly brings a smile .

This web series was made with emotions mixed with comic timings which makes it even more interesting!

For anyone who hasn’t watched this show yet, would highly recommend it.

Kevin James is love by the way in this show and Leah Remini certainly steals the show!

Far Away

Another poem coming your way, about a huge transition that happened in our lives few years ago , shifted from India to Canada, away from family, friends, uprooted the entire system and came here to start life from scratch. Grass is always greener on the other side, I understood this so well after shifting here 😀 it’s not easy at all each day is a hustle and it’s just not us, it’s every couple who is coming from India or any part of the world leaving all what they built with love back home to start something new, with dreams in their eyes hoping some day those dreams will become reality.

Please enjoy some emotional aspects about the country built over the years 🙂

A land far away , in the land that is majorly frozen,

A place where I never thought my dreams will be woven,

A place that was a strange land ,

But it came ahead with open arms and a helping hand!

A home away from home , created with love,

Away from family, but moulded with blessings from above!

A land with no sun in winters,

A place where even in spring there can be blizzards,

A country that is now somehow ours,

But why does it still not feel a part of our hearts?

With no one to be by my side if I am unwell,

With no maid to wash the dishes , that are not done yet.

A visit to a temple here,

Is a beautiful feeling to be clear.

Summers where are you come here !

Waiting to see the skies becoming clear.

Summing it up, still miss our home country, especially during festivals, as the fervour of those festivals in India is unmatched, still this is our place for now and I feel proud to see so many successful people from our place making it big in a North American country! Kudos .

Your Immigrant!

Not a movie review

A few months ago I watched a very sweet, subtle movie which was way different from what we get to see these days. Recently I watched it again and thought should definitely share why this one is worth watching, especially if you like simple, realistic kind of cinema.

This one is not really a movie review, it’s just my perspective and nothing else. Some might love it , some might find the movie boring. The main essence of the movie was finding that right partner who is not only there in your good times but also in every part of what you do and enjoys what you like! The way it dealt with the topic along with food as an underlying part was amazing, the protagonist loves food, though most of us love food, but loving food in true sense is being able to sense all the flavours and eat what actually is flavourful not just eat for the sake of eating. The movie does have some comic timings related to the food and the way the lead behaves when he has food, was quite funny.

The story moves along the old roads and houses of Goa, the quaint beaches and houses with blue coloured doors gives the movie an aesthetic look and feel, with food and finding the right partner the script mixes all the flavours of a Bollywood drama without actually making it look like a drama!

Without giving out much and leaving the rest for you to find out, I’ll just share the name , it was released on one of the OTT channels, not sure if it was released theatrically as well. The name is- Tadka with Nana Patekar( veteran Hindi movie actor) and Shriya Saran (another amazing actress from the South Indian film industry) along with other amazing actors.

Tadka- means tempering, it is a method widely used in Indian cuisine, in which whole or ground spices are heated in hot oil or ghee and the mixture is added to a dish. (Source-Google).

A cat is what am meant to be!

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

I often feel if i wasn’t a human, which animal’s characteristics are similar to how I am today, that would be a cat! Yes , if I would have to compare myself with an animal that is a cat. The reason why I think this is right is, the anxiety and mood swings a cat has is quite similar to what I have faced a lot in life with different situations, also I find cats are least affected by who is around them and they enjoy me-time a lot, neither do they need their pet parent to walk them around unlike a pet dog. Which relates to my nature, where I like being alone and have that quiet space .

From many cat pet parents have got to know, that cats usually don’t express much love but they do roam around you and miss you if you aren’t at home, quite similar with me, I might not express every-time for my loved ones that they are special, but deep inside me I do love them dearly!

Hello beautiful!

Hi Shweta,

So you made it to a century in this big, bad world! nice job! Also you don’t use glasses to read and still practice yoga and meditation? wow no wonder you have aged gracefully.

You have lived a wonderful life, Shweta, with such loving family, friends, have travelled over to so many different countries and stayed in a strange land in Canada, away from family. Kudos to what you did as many might not have that courage ever to leave everything behind and start afresh something new!

I hope you are doing well and do get nostalgic while turning pages in memory and miss your younger days, but you have truly lived your life and have certainly enjoyed it. There have been ups and certainly many downs but with time you did matured and gained that strength to come over those downs,

I am sure you love staying in Goa these days with a sunny backyard and some young kids as your renters.

Have a good rest of your remaining life Shweta. Love you , your younger self!

From,

Shweta ( younger version)

Following the gut!

Have you ever had that strong gut feeling , about starting something new or doing something you have always loved doing?

I am sure you had that feeling ! I had this too, I was just watching a movie which I had seen a few months ago as well, but it was so good and subtle that I wanted to watch it again, a Hindi language movie for the ones who like sober , simple stuff, will definitely write a movie review in another blog post.

But this one is dedicated to an idea (which mind you , is not from Chatgpt 😀 ) , this is my creation, a beginner’s Hindi language poem, but written in English alphabets.

Please enjoy! feedbacks encouraged!

Chalo kuchh pichhle panne kholein,

kuchh band chaabiyon se taale khole,

Dil main chhupe dard ko nikale ,

jo kabhi kisi se naa kaha usse baatayein,

Chalo dhoondhein voh kaagaz ki kashti,

jisse khushi khushi kissi baarish main tairaaya tha,

Chalo chalein uss ped ke neeche,

Jisme kabhi doston ne aam ka achaar khilaya tha,

Chalo jeeyein iss pal ko, jo aaj hai,

Kyunki yahi voh pal hai, ek lamha hai,

Toh kyun naa banayein iss pal ko bhi uss pal jaisa,

Jo lage maa ke aanchal main jaise ho lipta,

Chalo khaayein voh peeli dal phirse, jisme tadka lage ,

toh aisa lage jaise aasmaan se kadi dhoop main ole ho barse,

Chalo aagaz karein basant ka jisme,

har phool , barf ke baad phirse nikhare,

Chalo ab chalein apne andar ke ghar main,

jo hai tumhara dil, kyunki vahi hai jisme saare sapne hain simte.

The essence of life

I got to read a book by the famous Devdutt Patnaik, who is one of the best authors describing various mythological incidences and characters in hindu mythology. The book I read was Seven secrets of Shiva.

For anyone who does not know who is shiva, he is the essence of life, basically it’s a word symbolical of peace, tranquility , getting to know oneself a bit better by doing meditation and being unaffected by the garbage around us.

The way this book talks about various forms of lord shiva is amazing, I was already aware of some of the stories mentioned in the book but mostly I was unaware. But the thing that really stuck in my head was the ultimate supreme power and guiding light for all of us is shiva. It’s not necessary to worship him in the temple, you can just meditate and know yourself a bit more each day by just doing that you will be following what Shiva has been doing since eons.

The most benevolent god and someone who if he gets angry on some wrong thing can destroy everything , is what represents a form of shiva.

I would recommend anyone who wants to know a bit more of the surrounding and why certain things happen in life, read this book!

Kudos to Devdutt Patnaik for such an amazing book!

Thank you!

Reviving !

Starting something again after a long period of time, I got off the blog page due to some other work that got me occupied but now am back and I wish to continue this on a regular basis!

It’s been a while since I was away and I ventured into meditation and yoga though quite basic in this time, along with the regular work I was doing. Meditation actually opened up a lot of blocked gates in my head and made me think clearly about many aspects of life. Just like spring that comes up after the dry and cloudy winter day! I felt sun was shining bright on me with clarity of thoughts ( though I still need to work a lot on this) . I’ll be searching up for some good posts to write and begin this blog journey again! If you want to talk or discuss on anything related to lifestyle, yoga, meditation. Put in the comment!

Story Review

This might be something that has already been done before, but I just happen to view the series that I had read long ago, stories by Rabindranath Tagore. For those who are unaware of this great legend, he is one of the finest authors of India, he has written many great novels ,songs in regional language and his work has been translated to English as well for book lovers around the world.

I happen to see the book adaptation of Chokher Bali , was I stumped to see what it meant to be a widow back then ? Yes , I was . It felt so strange and wierd to relate what women during that time used to go through. If a lady’s husband died, was it really her fault ? Did she murdered him, that she had to stay away from all the festivities, she wasn’t allowed to cast her shadow on a newly wedded bride? Some obnoxious and ridiculous norms set by the society.

But there were still some ladies ,even during that era who were educated but their education was not considered a virtue during that time,it was actually a curse according to the society.

Even today when I see such series, I wonder what it would have been like to grow in that era? To be married off at the age of 16 ? Seems like a story that can never be true, but it was and the way it has been portrayed by Tagore is amazing.

Being a book worm throughout life, it has been a pleasure to be able to read Tagore’s classics ,to be able to know what it was for women back then and how far we have come in this so called patriarchal society, how now women lead men in so many places and hold leadership positions at work. How they have proven that the multi-skill ability is in them since they were born.

This isn’t a hate post against men ,but just a blog sharing what it was back then and how wonderfully has it been written by our author!

Thank you Rabindranath Tagore for giving us such pearls to treasure for life ! And learn so much from them.
